The Upward Climb and Finding Success- March 27, 2017

Hello Everyone and Buenas Tardes, Well this week was a great week to be able to progress in the work here in San Blas. We were finally able to move foward and baptize before Conference starts this next week. It was a great week to be a missionary. On Tuesday we were able to finalize the baptism dates of Naomi and Regina. 2 girls that their families just got reactivated in the church. We spent the week preparing them for their interviews and making sure that they were ready to be baptized. On Thursday we had the baptism of Naomi, and it was a special experience to see because of the impact that it had on her mom. Her mom is a single mom that has raised Naomi alone, and it has been very hard for her. Recently she has been battling so many physical problems but we could tell that it was a strength to her to be able to see her daughter finally get baptized. On Saturday was Reginas baptism, that too was so good to see the family united again and to see them all become members of the church with a desire to follow Christ in everything. On Friday we had the chance to do splits with the Elders in Jalapa. I went with a new Elder named Elder Silva from Colombia. It was fun to be with him and get to know him and where he came from. I felt bad for him because he had to wait a year to be able to come on his mission for a problem that he developed in his leg. It seemed to all clear up and he came but now the problems are coming back, yet he continues to battle on. We were able to learn a lot in this experience and it was fun to get to know yet another part of the mission and the people there. Well this week has been a great week, but it hasnt been the easiest either. We are happy because we have seen the fruits of the labors here, yet the work is a steady uphill climb. Last Monday, President Madsen emailed us saying that the area of Mexico has put new goals for baptisms every week and has put new goals and higher expectations for the missionaries here. President Madsen followed it up saying that these goals could only be completed for those that truly were willing to leave everything and exersize the faith that we have. It has been a great test for us. But the work continues to go forth with everything that we have to offer to it. I love being here in San Blas and I am grateful to be here.
